AI & Data Protection

Course Overview

The UK Government’s stated vision is to foster a pro-innovation approach to AI regulation while ensuring the concept of fairness is embedded into its deployment and use. The ICO has stated publicly that it supports this approach and will work with the other members of the Digital Regulatory Cooperation Forum to avoid regulatory overlap, gaps or contradictions.

But until this approach matures what can controllers, seeking to exploit the undoubted advantages of AI while managing data protection compliance risk, do today to protect themselves in this complex fast-evolving landscape?

This course looks at the steps controllers should take to effectively manage the accountability and governance implications to:

  • Ensure fairness throughout the AI lifecycle
  • Achieve transparency opposite all relevant stakeholders
  • Guarantee the lawfulness of the processing, including in relation to special category data
  • Attain statistical accuracy, including as a component of the fairness principle
  • Discharge its security and data minimisation obligations

The course provides solutions, supported by materials, which delegates can take away to implement into their existing data risk management frameworks.

It is recommended that delegates attending this session have a solid basic knowledge of current data protection legal requirements. Delegates with no existing knowledge may find it helpful to attend Data Protection Essential Knowledge - Level 1 before undertaking this training course.
